Ad Placement

Certain area on the web sites are more likely to be clicked by the users than other piece of real-estate on the webpage. This might be so because of the type of content at these points. If the content is interesting the users tend to linger over that place and so the probability of clicking increases.

For example, if the content of the webpage is textual eg. articles etc, the users tend to read the whole article and then look for links for further reading. Here, if the ad units are placed just after the articles - the click Through rates can be quite good.

Ads placed near rich content and navigational aids usually do well because users are focused on those areas of a page. on pages where users are typically focused on reading an article, ads placed directly below the end of the editorial content tend to perform very well.”
