Getting links from other websites can do a lot to your blog. It improves your search engine ranking, page ranking and blog traffic. Some bloggers, including myself, have gone all the way to the extreme to building links to their own blog. Desperate times call for desperate measures so I won’t be surprised to know that a lot of bloggers have indulged themselves to artificially inducing an increase in the number of links to their blog. While it is possible to self-create links to your blog, it requires a lot of hard works. In addition, links that are self-created doesn’t give self satisfaction. What’s rewarding and satisfying is to earn links through the natural way by getting other bloggers link to your blog.
Today’s post focusses on ‘LINK SEDUCTION’, a method of getting links to your blog that doesn’t require you to be physically seductive to be able to do it. Link Seduction is an idea that came to my mind after attempts of struggling to get other bloggers to link to my blog. Here are some of the techniques that have gotten me links over the past 2 months.
# Link Seduction 1 : Ask your readers for their opinions or any additional contribution they can give to your ideas. - When you make an article about ways to improve your blog, always ask your readers about their opinions. What other ways have you not mentioned, or what can they include to your list. Some bloggers will create their own post in addition to what you’ve already written and they usually provide a reference to your blog. My post on ‘Guilty or Not? Are you a desperate blogger?’ inspired Terence Chang to come up with additional information that makes bloggers desperate and gave a linkback to my post.
# Link Seduction 2 : Review other blogs and let the bloggers of these blogs know about it. - Generally bloggers will link to your blog review especially when it’s a good one. No one can’t resist a well-written blog review.
# Link Seduction 3 : Be of help to other bloggers. - When you try to help other bloggers, they’ll often than not, thank you through a love link. They will mention you to any of their post and link to your blog.
# Link Seduction 4 : Join communities and make friends. - Having friends on-line has a lot of advantages. They are there to help and support you, they include you on their blogrolls, they leave comments to your post and they frequently visit your blog. If I were you, I’d start making friends on-line. Don’t do this however for the purpose of getting these benefits mentioned. It usually don’t work if that’s the case.
# Link Seduction 5 : Disagree with other bloggers. - There have been several researches conducted to weigh the degree of popularity a review gets when it’s negative and when it’s positive. It turned out that negative reviews are most often popular and poignant. With this being said, it’s therefore a great way to seduce other blogger to link to your blog when you disagree with their ideas and opinions, especially from ideas and opinions of established and well-respected bloggers. I was able to increase the links to my blog when I’ve written a post that disagrees with the video message of Michael Gray to other bloggers covering the same topic that he does.
# Link Seduction 6 : Offer something free to your readers other than the free information you provide on your blog. - If you’ve noticed, my blog offers some free webmaster tools that anyone can use to evaluate their blog performance. After including these free tools on my blog, I was able to seduce other bloggers to link to it.
# Link Seduction 7 : Be the first one to cover an issue or a topic. - Being able to be the first to cover an issue or a topic will dramatically increase the number of links to your blog. It’s actually the same reason why news websites like CNN and BBC have a lot of links.
# Link Seduction 8 : Be controversial. - You don’t need to be controversial like Paris Hilton or Britney Spears to do this. Besides, you don’t actually need to create controversy to seduce other bloggers into linking to your blog. Don’t force yourself to be controversial if you are not built for it. Alternatively, you can join controversial topics or participate on controversial events or activities.
# Link Seduction 9 : Join the minority. - If you identify yourself to the majority of bloggers, you lessen your chances of getting noticed. If however you are one of the bloggers who belong to the minority, you’ve got higher chances of getting noticed and getting linked to.
# Link Seduction 10 : Be BOLD. - Bold bloggers be it on their content or layout usually gets alot of attention and a lot of links as a result. Once you’ve decided to be bold, make sure you’ll be able to support your boldness.
# Link Seduction 11 : Quality Content. - Lastly and the most important of all, create quality content. You should be able to provide useful and valuable content to your blog readers. This is the most challenging part of the work but creates the most number of links.
There you have it, my list of ways to seduce other bloggers to link to your blog. I’m sure you’ve got other ideas in mind. You might want to share it through the comments? Thanks for your time.
